Graduation Collection
In my collection “on-stage and off-stage” I have chosen to focus on the arts of drag, but more specifically, the transition between the on-stage and off-stage persona of drag queens.
Our world has a broad spectrum of colourful genders, sexualities, and self-definitions to offer, and in an ideal world - you wouldn’t have to compromise and limit yourself to only two of these spectrums.
Some people choose not to compromise in their quest for self expression, and herby adopt to choose a more extravegant path in many forms. Those people choose a path society might frown upon - but in their respect they bring a unparalled motive for passion. They took an alleged disadvantage, and using art made it an advantage, one that we now know as the arts of drag.
The collection offers a look at a long journey along the different scales of this spectrum. As the drag queen transforms from her off-stage persona, to her on-stage persona and back.
The collection uses classic traditional male tailoring while borrowing feminine motives and elements. Combining these elements from both male and female tailoring, without choosing one, but rather amplifying everything that is in between, shows how a man by day can be a queen by night.
The collection is deliberately colours clean cut, allowing to build more and more layers of clothing and personality
